Aqua is a 112-meter Sinot-designed (sinot.com) superyacht concept that will make most everyone’s jaw drop. This yacht’s designed to operate on liquid hydrogen (stored in two 28-ton vacuum-isolated tanks) and fuel-cell technology. The generated electricity is transmitted to switchboards, where it’s distributed throughout the yacht to provide power for propulsion, auxiliary systems and hotel loads. The electric propulsion makes Aqua stealthy, and the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots. At a cruise of 10 to 12 knots, it has a 3,750-n.m. range.
The owner’s “pavilion” is on the front half of the upper deck and includes a transparent bow section called the Observatory where owners can watch the waves in perfect Zen. The wellness center includes a hydro massage, a yoga room and a hatch that 4 opens to reveal the water below, giving people the perception of exercising on an island. Another defi ning feature is a grand staircase with a giant façade of strengthened glass that fronts the hydrogen tanks. Aqua has accommodations for 14 guests and 31 crew.
