125 Years Ago (1891) For the second time in three months, a schooner bound from San Francisco to Alaska on a fishing and sealing cruise diverts to Port Townsend because of a mutinous crew. The first crew had complained to “have been poorly fed, housed and generally ill-treated.” The second crew, concerned their schooner was too heavily loaded, and after the second of two gales smashed two of its eight boats, decided the ship was not seaworthy to continue north.
