Designed to be a well-mannered, firm and able sailing vessel, the Tartan 3500 delivers performance. Her moderate beam and powerful ends, linked with the deep fin keel provide excellent stability and sail-carrying ability. The long waterline and strong rig offer fast passages and a competitive edge, while the contoured cockpit seats, wide coamings and pedestal steering ensure a skipper's comfort both at sea and dockside. Her frame has been well-engineered and constructed to save weight yet remain sound. The hull is a balsa-cored sandwich structure with a vinylester barrier coat between NPG-ISO gelcoat and the hand laid laminate. A cored deck and a bond-in-place grid structure produce a strength-to-weight ratio that makes her a high-performance, medium-displacement cruiser-racer. The pattern non-skid of her deck maximizes safety, comfort and function.
Logical in layout, she has two-foot-wide side decks and inboard shrouds that afford easy passage both fore and aft, plus allow optimum sheeting angles for efficient upwind sailing. Mounted through solid glass and aluminum backing plates, her quality equipment is strategically placed for either cruising or racing pleasure. Leading all lines aft to a cockpit that is quite manageable by one, she features a low-stretch genoa and main halyard, Dacron genoa and main sheets, traveler tagline and reef lines. Down below, she is fully fitted for cruising comfort with good stowage and generous accommodations. Her interior is highlighted by Tartan's trademark teak joinery and hand-rubbed oil finish while being suitably complemented by the pleasing aesthetics of her fine fabric selections. The voluminous curves coupled with the clever use of angular bulkheads enable her nav station to be tucked aft while providing plenty of room to stand and move about.
The galley is located at the foot of the companionway ladder to starboard, allowing for easy access to the cockpit, and has all the necessary facilities and storage to please any chef. The galley contains the following:
The roomy air-conditioned salon has seating for 8 at the varnished drop-leaf centerline table with table storage. Seating on both part and starboard furniture grade main cabin settees and seats with contoured cushions, perfect for dining or socializing. Teak hardwood cabinets throughout. Overhead deck hatch with screen, 2 opening port holes both port and starboard, 2 overhead dome reading lights, locker and large media storage both outboard shelves and above settees, 12-volt outlets, and Weem & Plath clock and barometer.

The forecabin with 78" x 60" forward V-berth has lockers, hanging locker and four drawers. Forward cabin has an opening deck hatch with overhead dome lighting. This guest bunk is roomy with plenty of space to stretch out. Noctiluca hosts a comfortable master 78" x 60" double bunk portside aft. There is plenty of light with self-storage outboard and above the bunk, with hanging locker and shelves, There is a reading light with 12-volt outlet. Storage below the berths.

Noctiluca is powered with a very dependable 27hp Yanmar diesel (3GM30F) that is coupled to a feathering bronze propeller which makes the boat very easy to handle. The insulated engine compartment has multiple access points for inspection and service. To keep the crew cool on those warm days and warm on the cool days, the boat has a 16,000 BTU reverse-cycle air conditioning unit with digital controls.

Noctiluca has a beautiful white hull with blue boot stripes. The deck is white with tan non-skid. The cockpit has a blue dodger with side panels and a Bimini. There is an electrically operated swim platform with a swim ladder making water activities much easier.
This boat has a very easily managed sail plan. Full battened mainsail with Lazy Jacks with Harken Battcar system. Genoa 110 is on a Harken roller furling system. Mast is an aluminum double spreader keel stepped unit.
