Description

An extremely well-presented example, high-specification, teak-interior, and one-owner version of this award-winning design from Hallberg-Rassy. Set up for push-button short-handed offshore and ocean cruising. She benefits from a fastidious maintenance regime and boasts a comprehensive cruising inventory.Further Broker's Comments::Launched in 2003, SEREN WEN is hull no.47 of 199 Hallberg-Rassy 43’s built by the Swedish yard between 2001 and 2016.  The German Frers designed H/R43 has proven herself to be arguably one of the most popular and well-respected bluewater cruising yachts of her generation and SEREN WEN is no exception.Ordered new by her current owners, SEREN WEN has taken her UK-based owners around the world in absolute safety and security. Fitted out for effortless ‘in cockpit’ sail-handling, SEREN WEN benefits from hydraulic inmast furling mainsail, along with hydraulic genoa and staysail furlers, backed up by electric cockpit winches. For downwind sailing, she has a Parasailor and a choice of staysails. Below decks, SEREN WEN features the popular ‘armchair’ saloon layout which provides a comfortable relaxation space away from the main saloon area. Finished in the expensively optioned teak joinery. SEREN WEN is also boasts a brighter and airier feel below decks compared with her Mahogany-finished sisterships.SEREN WEN’s specification highlights include:-Standard draft keelCopper-coated hull with Gelshield Plus epoxy systemVolvo Penta D2-55 engine with 3-bladed Brunton AutopropSleipner bowthrusterHydraulic inmast furling, genoa furling and staysail furlingNorth sailsRolly Tasker downwind staysailLewmar electric winchesCarbon fibre spinnaker poleParasailorRaymarine instrumentsRadar, chart plotter and AISDigitalYacht 12vDC marine PCIcom VHF and SSBSatellite phone systemForce 10 stoveMicrowave ovenWashing machineFridge and separate fridge/freezerAir-conditioning for aft owner’s cabinWebasto hot-air cabin heating systemLCD TV in saloonHolding tanksUpgraded battery capacity with newly replaced service and start batteriesFisher Panda 4.5kva generatorEnwa MT-3200 220vAC reverse-osmosis watermakerAlways left with a full deck cover and with her teak decks preserved by Semco since build, SEREN WEN presents in quite remarkable condition externally, and below decks, it is the same story with custom covers to protect her upholstery, and fitted carpeting to protect her soleboards.Having owned and enjoyed SEREN WEN for 20 seasons, her owners are now looking to retire from sailing and spend more time on land, so SEREN WEN is now offered on the open market for the very first time. Located in the Canary Islands and offered for sale exclusive of EU or European VAT, she is well suited and perfectly placed to appeal to buyers from any nation, including the UK, Europe, United States and Australia/New Zealand.OWNER’S COMMENTS:Our sailing background is with Contest 35 and Contest 37 both new from the yard. Cruising the Irish Sea , Isle of Man , west coast Scotland. Needing a larger yacht to go further our search led us to Orst and the Swedish builders Hallberg-Rassy, Malo, Najad. After careful consideration, we chose the Hallberg-Rassy 43 as she gave us a good solid boat with deep safe cockpit where we have always felt safe. After taking delivery in Sweden in 2003, we headed south and crossed the Atlantic with ARC. After cruising the Windward Islands we decided to head west, calling in Venezuela Cartagena Columbia and Panama before heading through the Panama Canal and south to Ecuador.  The following season, we ventured out in the Pacific, visiting Galapagos, Marquesas, the Tuamotus beautiful atolls, Society Islands Tahiti etc, Cook Islands, Samoa , Niue, Tonga, Fiji , Vanuatu, New, New Caledonia and then finally arriving in Brisbane, Australia. After enjoying cruising around Australian waters, we headed up to Indonesia and Singapore before heading west towards Malacca Malaysia and Thailand. Heading via the Maldives, we ventured on to Oman, Aden and Yemen.Throughout our 10-year twin-handed circumnavigation adventure SERENE WEN provided a safe haven through many different seas and conditions. Her cutter rig profile has allowed us to sail safely and easily in the strongest of conditions including daily 40knot gales in the Red Sea. Only once have we had to hove to. With her easily-handled Parasailor spinnaker flown only during hours of daylight, we saw the 3,000Nm passage between the Galapagos and Marquesas completed in just 20 days.Maintenance and servicing was always one of the first things carried out when we would return home each Christmas period. SEREN WEN would be fully serviced, the engine and generated flushed through and laid up with antifreeze mixture, and the boat covered over with a full deck-cover with sails stowed below decks and a dehumidifier left to run 8 hr a day. This fastidious programme of care and maintenance has ensured SEREN WEN remains completely reliable and presented in a quite remarkable condition, more akin to a 5yr old boat than a 20yr vessel.BUILDERS COMMENTS:‘The Hallberg-Rassy 43 Mk I has been built in 150 units from 2001-2007. She has won Yacht of the Year in Germany, Best Midsize Cruiser in the USA, Best overall Cruisingboat in the USA as well as Top 10 in the US and Import Boat of the Year in Australia 2006.The 43 has all the typical Hallberg-Rassy benchmarks. It goes without saying that this is a well-built blue water cruiser. The interior floor is all in one level, there is a seagoing galley, a windshield, a rubbing strake to the hull, big engine, generous tankage and timeless beautiful lines with a natural grace.’DESIGNERS COMMENT:‘Compared to the earlier design the first thing that becomes apparent is the relatively longer waterline thus a slender hull. This longer waterline would bring immediate improvements in speed and sea-kindliness. The hull construction follows Hallberg-Rassy's current and well proven practice of building solid bottom layup and cored topsides and decks for very good results in strength and longevity.Compared with the 42F the interior layout has been improved, adding a separate shower on the forward toilet, good headroom in the walk-through to the aft cabin and overall polishing of details and layouts.I expect the Hallberg-Rassy 43 to become a classic in her range and style with very good sailing capabilities and volume inside. Clean uncluttered decks and a well-protected cockpit, typical of the Hallberg-Rassy Line.’VIEWING ARRANGEMENTS   Lying Gran Canaria   Available to view strictly by appointment   Office Hours Mon- Fri 0900 – 17.00 Saturday by prior appointment                                                        For more information or to arrange a viewing please contact us.   Please Note: Due to the varying locations of our yachts, your travel time and the distances that may be involved, we recommend that you only make arrangements to view if you are actively considering purchase.   Lead Broker : Alex Grabau Tel: +44 (0)1590 673715 Email: [email protected] More
