Description

Kialoa II was one of the first ‘Maxi’ yachts, this is a rare opportunity to purchase a classic boat with huge provenance. . This ocean racing legend was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built in lightweight aluminium specifically to compete and win the maxi ocean racing category. During her first decade she successfully won most of the major ocean races at least once, including the 1965 Transpac Race.  She came 2nd in Fastnet in 1969 and took line honours in the 1971 Sydney-Hobart Race. Her current owners have invested well in her maintenance with a full re-fit and new suite of North sails in 2016/17. A new Whale Spars aluminium mainmast and boom in 2018. Subsequently in 2022 she has had new standing riggingand running rigging, a new main sail and topside paint. And in 2023, her hull has had a spray application of International Micron (black) Propspeed 2023.She would be ideal as an ocean racer or for Classic Yacht regattas or as an adventure yacht to reach the high latitudes and furthest corners of the globe. She has many more years and sea miles to be enjoyed by her new owner.Show More
