This Ericson 38-200 is a highly regarded Bruce King-designed performance racer/cruiser--solid, quick, reliable, and comfortable. "Dulce Maestra" has been well-loved, with numerous replacements and upgrades over the past 10 years.

Since 2012, "Dulce Maestra" has been used fewer than 6 months a year, so the upgrades are virtually 5 years old. The following are new or substantially rebuilt, repaired, or upgraded:

HULL ABOVE AND BELOW THE WATERLINE; NAVIGATION, RADAR, WIRING, COMMUNICATIONS and CHARGING SYSTEMS; SAILS and RIGGING; ENGINE, PROP and SHAFT; ANCHOR, GROUND TACKLE, WINDLASS; REFRIGERATION SYSTEM; WATER TANKS and PLUMBING; CANVAS, CUSHIONS, and UPHOLSTERY.

"Dulce Maestra" is loved, sweet, swift, solid, reliable, upgraded, and ready to go! Currently moored in Marina Puerto Escondido, south of Loreto, BCS Mexico, on the threshold to the Sea of Cortez, with some of the best cruising grounds in the world.

Accommodations

MAIN SALON:

The Main Salon is spacious and inviting, with comfortable and attractive new upholstery 2016. Long settee to starboard; Teak table and wrap-around seat to port. Shelves, cupboards, and bookshelves on both sides. Large and deep storage bins below and behind seating areas. Lewmar hatch above and numerous opening port lights ensure ventilation and lighting. Teak and Holly cabin sole; partially replaced 2012.

NAV STATION: Dedicated navigation table with ample desk space, lift-up storage, drawers, VHF, SSB, and electric panel adjacent. Hanging locker directly aft.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Forward cabin with double V-Berth, aft cabin with double berth, full head, spacious salon and galley.

GALLEY:

  • U-Shaped galley for convenience and safety
  • Top-loading refrigerator with freezer box; 4.6 cubic feet. Frigomatic Capri 35 refrigeration/freezer system; air-cooled; new 2012
  • Double SS sinks with pressure water and foot pump
  • Gas Systems SS LPG oven (needs repair) and 3-Burner stove. Two propane tanks in cockpit.
  • Trident Gas control panel and gas sniffer
  • Ample and convenient storage, with tilt-out dish locker, cabinets, drawers, tilt-out storage bin, pots and pans bin, good counter space, and plenty of light and ventilation. Highly functional galley.

STATEROOMS:

FORWARD CABIN:

Stateroom with double V-Berth, separate shelves, hanging lockers, drawers, and storage bins. Dressing seat. Full headroom. Door for privacy. Several deep storage bins under berth. Lewmar hatch above and opening ports on the sides ensure light and ventilation.

Fans in Main Salon and forward cabin.

AFT CABIN:

Large double berth, door for privacy, hanging locker, shelves, and storage areas. Opening port at aft end.

HEAD:

Located to starboard of companionway. Raritan toilet. Sink with pressure water. Stand-up shower with bench. Cosmetics cabinets. Toilet attached via Y-Valve to holding tank, which can be flushed with Macerator pump. PHRK IIC replacement parts.

Deck

GROUND TACKLE:

PRIMARY: Rocna 33 lb. anchor, new 2013. Rode: 180 ft. 5/16” G4 high-test chain and 52 ft. 5/8” 3-Strand line; new 2017.

WINDLASS: Maxwell-Nilsson Vertical Windlass, VWC 1000; new 2012. New wildcat 2017.

CHAIN LOCKER: Easily accessible under bow deck opening lid.

BRIDLE: Long, stretchy bridle of 3-Strand line with SS hook.

SECONDARY: Bruce 22 lb., Danforth 22 lb., housed in aft lazarette with 60 ft. chain plus 80 ft. line, plus extensive supply of mooring and anchoring lines.

CANVAS:

DODGER: Dodger with SS frame and Strataglass windows; new 2013; reinforced 2017.

EXTERIOR CANVAS: Sail cover, winch covers, handrail covers, hatch cover; new 2012.

BIMINI: Sunbrella; removable; 2012.

RUNNING RIGGING: All in good to excellent condition, replaced as nec. 2012-2020.

Hull

DESIGN: Renowned Bruce King design and construction.

MATERIAL: Molded fiberglass.

KEEL and RUDDER: Modified fin keel; lead; spade rudder.

CONDITION: Good.

In 2012, the entire hull below the waterline was taken down to bare fiberglass. Osmotic blisters opened, drained, and sanded. Fiberglass replaced as necessary. New Interlux barrier coat. New bottom paint. Since 2012, the boat has been hauled every 2-3 years. As necessary, osmotic blisters repaired and then covered with new barrier coat. New bottom paint (Pettit Trinidad HD Antifouling Paint): 3+ coats on bottom; 4+ coats at waterline and leading edges. Above the waterline, the hull was sanded and repainted in 2012, with new black stripe. Looks sharp!

Exclusions

Artwork on walls, rugs, pillows in salon, kayaks shown in some photos. Also, some of the owners’ personal tools onboard, spare electrical and plumbing supplies.
