Description

This is a wooden hulled Grand Banks style auxiliary powered gaffed-rigged sailing schooner that is a documented fishing vessel, 6-pack charter vessel and the only Tall Ship from the state of Alaska. She is full keeled with deep draft moderate beam, and classic bow and stern sections.

The vessel owners are experienced Alaska fishermen, boatbuilders, and long distance cruisers both inshore and offshore and they have a good annual maintenance program going, and the vessel’s condition reflects that.

While walking aboard this vessel I get the sense of quality craftsmanship, and old tall ship style. Every knob, door, cupboard, table, etc. feels solid and well made. As much character and overall regal look, this boat is meant to be used. Being used in the past as a charter, I can see taking a adventurous voyages to Alaska and beyond.

Moving forward to the bunk cabin is a large space with 7 berths, table, tv, freezer, storage, and a large, windowed hatch on the ceiling that provides storage access from deck and ample amount of light. At the forward end of the bunk cabin a large carved cedar door provides access to the forward cabin. The forward cabin contains is a double berth with lighting, a ladder the exterior deck to port, and a hanging locker with drawers beneath to starboard. Webasto forced air heater.

Additional Equipment

There are 3 electric bilge pumps. One in the main hold, one in the ladder hold by the head, and the third one in the engine room. There is also a manual bilge pump actuated on deck by the main mast. The engine room also has a hydraulic bilge pump attached to the Flow Max 2" deck wash down pump with a hand operated T-valve in the engine room sump area.

Sails Rigging

Sail inventory consists of a Jib sail, stay sail, gaff fore sail, gaff main sail and a frog sail between the two mast tops similar to where the fisherman sail would be on a classic schooner with top masts. The sails were made by a family business called Force 10 sails which is now owned and operated by the Chimenti family based out of the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building in Port Hadlock.
