It was founded in 1897 and the first order was the 5 tonner racer Nella for HRH the Duke of  Abruzzi, and it was not the only boat built for him, but the 10-tonner Artica was very famous and won the French Cup in 1902 in just two races, so superior was it. The metric class boats were very numerous and important since the origin of the new International rating  in 1907. Miranda II was created as a 6 M International Class for  Cav. Uff. Rag. Carlo Ciampi. Her original sail number was I - 56. Before Miranda II, he owned Miranda, another 6M racing yacht, also built under the second rating rule in 1927, again by Costaguta, and in 1938 he launched Miranda III, a magnificent 8Mr with which he won numerous regattas. The current owner has numerous historical documents regarding Miranda II.
