Class 40 Akilaria RC1

Mowgli is an Akilaria RC1 Class 40 designed by Mark Lombard and built for competitive offshore racing by MC-TEC shipyard in 2007. Mowgli placed 2nd in the Global Ocean Race 2011/2012, under skipper Marco Nannini proving her performance and reliability. Following an extensive refit her current owner took line honours in the ARC January 2022, crossing Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia in 15d 14h.

Mowgli is a fantastic example of a solid class 40 that has been converted for comfort. The interior designed by Pulse Yacht Design, includes a forward and aft cabin, galley, heads, well planned storage, an ergonomic nav station and a saloon, which can also be used for sleeping. During the refit 2018/19 a Schenker watermaker ZEN30 has been added with 2 x 100 litre freshwater tanks. The electronics system and batteries have been renewed together with the addition of Iridium and FleetOne satellite communications.  

This is a genuine dual-purpose Class 40 that can be cruised in comfort but still surfs and hits Class 40 speeds. Perfect for channel hops, offshore racing, fast passage long distance cruising to remote locations or to access your favourite bucket list regattas. These earlier generation Class 40s tick all the boxes and are now extremely popular as fast blue water cruisers.
