The Freedom 40/40, designed by David Pedrick, is a sturdy and fast boat with stunning lines that will turn heads at the dock and on the water. The free standing rig allows for a highly efficient sail plan and superior sail shape. Ionia has been lovingly cared for by her owners who have spared no expense upgrading her over the past several years.

The salon is appointed with gorgeous cherry joinery throughout and a teak and holly sole. A combination of overhead hatches and hull ports give the cabin a light and airy feel. Overall it's a very beautiful and welcoming space.
Entering the main cabin, the galley is to port and the day head to starboard. The aft cabin is accessed through the galley and the forward cabin through forward bulkhead on the starboard side. The salon is framed by a straight settee on the starboard side and an L shaped settee to port, that will convert to a single berth. The nav station is to starboard, forward of the head. A large fold down dining table is mounted on the forward bulkhead saving space in the salon when not needed. Ample storage throughout via large lockers and shelving. A gorgeous stained glass cabinet to port is certainly a unique find and amplifies the character of Ionia.
The galley has everything you need to prepare a meal and has good storage to stow provisions on extended trips. It features a 3 burner stove with oven, microwave, large refrigerator with separate freezer, double stainless steel sink and good countertop prep space.
The aft stateroom has a queen berth, built-in cedar lined hanging locker, and several shelves an cubbies to keep your personal belongings secure and organized. Several opening and fixed windows allow breeze and light to filter in. AC is ducted to the aft cabin keeping you cool on those hot nights at the dock. The forward stateroom with ensuite head is a cozy guest retreat with storage and light and a generous v-berth.
The main head, just starboard of the companionway features and electric flush toilet with a bidet, and a large separate shower area.
The large well designed cockpit is extremely comfortable for both entertaining and under sail. A centerline mounted table is found forward of the helm which has a huge wheel, allowing the captain to comfortably steer the boat from multiple positions. There is plenty of seating along the port and starboard benches with cockpit cushions. A surprising amount of storage in multiple cubbies keeps the cockpit clutter free. All lines lead back into the cockpit so the boat can be easily sailed without leaving the cockpit. The full cockpit enclosure keeps weather out and crew happy.
Moving forward the deck is protected by stainless steel stern and bow railings connected by dual lifelines running the length of the deck port and starboard; stainless steel gates are found midship, port and starboard. Stainless steel hand rails run along the cabin top, port and starboard. The anchor locker forward has an Lewmar electric windless along with a salt water wash down hose. Two Dorade Vents are center mounted on the cabin top for great ventilation below. Cleats are found at the bow, midships and stern.
The unique Freedom rig features a free standing carbon fiber mast, a fractional roller furled headsail and boom with a lazy jack system. The main sheet is mounted on the cabinet top, and the rig is completed with a boom vang and boom break. The free standing rig design eliminates the need for spreaders and shrouds, un-cluttering the deck and making for easy passage fore and aft.
