Description

Greg Elliott designed speed-machine built by Knierim in Germany. OPAL is a pure carbon thoroughbred built for taking line honours in the world’s most prestigious racing events, yet also able to sailed by just two. Professionally maintained and upgraded since new. OPAL comes as a ready-to-race or ultra-fast cruise package.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Costing in excess of Euro 1.5m at build, OPAL is arguably the ultimate short-handed rocket ship that money can buy. Full carbon sandwich construction, coupled with canting keel with 4,000kgs lead torpedo bulb, carbon retractable canard, full carbon Southern Spars rig, carbon standing rigging and carbon sails, this 11,000 kgs flying machine is effortlessly controlled by the smallest of crews thanks to full push-button hydraulics and powered winches for all duties.

While OPAL offers a formidable presence on the race circuit, she is still fully-fitted out below decks with up to 8 berths in three cabins, a proper saloon, electric heads and a full galley. If ever there was a boat to compete for line honours in the ARC, OPAL is the boat.

Stored ashore in a heated storage hall each winter and only launched between April and October, OPAL has been very lightly used within Baltic waters only. Professionally maintained since launch, she is presented in fantastic condition throughout. Her specification highlights include:-

  • Canting keel
  • Carbon fibre retractable canard daggerboard
  • Carbon fibre rudder
  • Southern Spars carbon fibre rig with carbon standing rigging
  • Harken hydraulic winches
  • Hydraulics for Magic-Trim mainsheet, main traveller, backstay, outhaul, cutter-stay tension, keel and canard
  • Retractable bowsprit
  • Comprehensive sail inventory
  • Fischer Panda 8kva generator
  • 8kw inverter
  • 24vDC domestic electronics
  • Lithium Ion batteries
  • Volvo 75hp engine
  • Variable speed retractable bow and stern thrusters
  • Retractable anchoring arm
  • Full galley with stove and fridge
  • Electric heads
  • Double master cabin forward plus 6 further pipecots aft
  • 1.95m headroom in saloon
  • Easy access to all service areas

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

With this Elliott 57 Sport you have the choice: Cruise with 2 or race with 14.

This Greg Elliott designed 57-footer is a modern performance cruiser with a canting keel, designed to be sailed with a crew of 2. To make handling easy the boat is equipped with bow and stern thruster and a central hydraulic system that operates not only the canting keel but also the winches, back stay, vang, traveller and main sheet. The large cockpit offers space for a full racing crew and the functional deck layout allows quick maneuvers.

The yacht is built in carbon fibre sandwich technology to the latest standards. As a result it is a light-weight and stiff boat with excellent sailing performance.

The interior is also built to meet the owner‘s requirements of a dual purpose yacht. It is equipped with bunk beds aft, a spacious saloon and a master stateroom forward.
