     First built in 1928 by Knutson Shipbuilding Corp, the Manhasset Bay One Design is the second oldest one design fleet on Long Island. Known for their good sailing characteristics with a low righting capability, it is understandable why these boats are still relevant today.

     Owned by a retired industry professional that managed high end yachts, Gala is arguably one of the nicest examples of this well-respected design. Stored inside on her trailer this boat is ready for this coming season.

Construction

     In 1928 the Manhasset Bay One Design was the first  design by Olin Stephens for the then  fledgling company of Sparkman & Stephens.

History

     GALA's restoration was completed by the well-respected Rockport Marine in 2008. Previously rebuilt, but Rockport Marine built her new spars using Reineck hardware wherever possible, as well as all new deck hardware. Some minor structural work was also done at that time along with complete cosmetics.
