Description

Completely rebuilt 2005 WD Schock, Harbor 20 Daysailer.  This must be the highest spec Harbor 20 in existence based on the upgrades and improvements. Boat has only been sailed 6 times since it was rebuilt in 2022 and did not launch in 2023/24.  Boat has been stored in heated storage where it can be seen inside on it’s trailer.

The Harbor 20 is a joy to sail in it’s huge, deep cockpit with high performance rig, modern underbody and classic lines.  The sail handling is simple with it’s Hoyt self-tacking jib and all lines led to the cockpit; always single handed.  It has a 50% ballast to displacement ratio and low center fo gravity with a 900lb lead keel/ballast and only weighing in at 1800 lbs.  It is a very stiff and stable boat that a family can sail with up to 6 adults.

Every inch of the boat has been rebuilt.  All deck fittings removed and rebedded with epoxy/high density reinforcement and redrilled to encapsulate the core.  Deck fittings replaced with ALL new cleats, padeyes, camcleats, blocks and other fittings.  Mast completely disassembled and rebuilt with new running rigging, windex, new lazyjack lines and new docklines.  New electrical box, switches and wiring along with new navigation lights, new bilge pump and new drain waterlines.

Most likely the only Harbor 20 with electronics, added Garmin electronics with depth sounder and wind sensor makes this a very easy sail.  New compass and cuddy opening modified to enclose the area for added protection of new electrical panel.

Custom new Plasteak (no maintenance) on entire deck, coach roof, cockpit sole, transom and cockpit seats.  New Plasteak rubrail along with the teak makes this boat beautiful against its flag blue hull, white boot stripe and red antifoul bottom.

Custom built and completely rebuilt dual axel trailer (for the Harbor 20) with new wheels, bearings, tires, wiring, dual wheel swing away trailer jack, painted.  Can’t even tell the boat and trailer are behind you when driving.

The original motor has been replaced with a Torqeedo 1103 Electric motor that tilts up when sailing, or left down to recharge the battery.  Drive control is housed in a watertight compartment and displays battery life, speed and remaining miles under power.   A custom mount allows for quick removal and storage in the aft locker.

The boat does need some finishing gelcoat but very minor work where the deck was reinforced and not covered by the new teak but the minor work does not detract from beautiful appearance of the sailboat.

The boat is easily launched from the trailer and rigged, but I had kept the boat in the water for the one season I used the boat.  The reason for selling is that I sailed this in Lake Erie and the weather changes so quickly it is often impossible to get out the weather.  While this boat weighs in at 1800 lbs., Lake Erie really demands a boat weighing 12,000 lbs. due the very quick changes in sea state.  While I have sailed in 8 foot waves feeling perfectly safe, I was wet and tired when I finally sailed back into the marina with a bit of adrenaline overload.  I also have a much larger sailboat and found that I didn’t really sail this as often as it should.  This boat will make both a new sailor and an experienced sailor very happy and everyone around will want to know more about this boat.
