Extraordinary Custom FinishFor Sale by Waterline Boats / Boatshed Everett2 VIRTUAL TOURS - 1 VIDEO - 124 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS & BROKER'S COMMENTS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS Bristol Channel Cutter 28! - Click on + OTHER DETAILS to copy and paste the link.Broker's Comments:This Bristol Channel Cutter 28 was completely custom finished by true artists, each in their own right. The production hull was built by the Samuel J Morse Co. in Costa Mesa, CA in 1976 and purchased in 1976 by the current owners for their ambitious and uncompromising project. The project was hauled to Seattle in 1979; it was commissioned in 1989 and was sailed in Puget Sound. There are 4600 pounds of cast lead, in three pieces, in the keel. They were cast in 1976 on the beach at Fort Pointe, San Francisco, in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge. The cabin exterior is mahogany with hand-laid teak decks; the mast, made of spar-grade vertical grain Sitka spruce, weighs 400 pounds. The owner built his own foundry in Seattle in 1982 in order to create each of the bronze fittings: boomkin shrouds, cranse and gammon iron (pieces holding the bow sprit in place), bow sprit shrouds, chain plates; the goose neck was fabricated in the Herreshoff design; each hand turned on a lathe. The boom gallows is made of purpleheart wood. To protect the exterior from the harsh elements there are extensive custom Sunbrella covers: hatches, boom, tiller, boom gallows, winches, windlass, propane tank boxes, mast base, companionway hatch cover, companionway spray hood, two sun/rain shades, covers for companionway and scuttle drop boards, splash cover for forward scuttle. The interior has been custom-designed with storage below each bunk and below the deck. There are bunks for four people; each with custom mattresses and bedding. The galley is fully equipped (including dish ware) and the Chesapeake by Dickinson diesel stove will keep you warm all seasons. The sails were purchased in 1988 from Port Townsend Sails and used until 1995. In 1995 the boat was moved to a yard for continued work and in 2011 it was moved to a heated space for 15 months to install the engine and electrical wiring, painting and to continue the refit. The new engine, a Beta Marine 25 (2011), has only 20 hours running time. The sails were inspected by Port Townsend Sails in 2011 and have not been used since. The drifter was made and purchased in 2013 and has never been used. The boat was launched in 2012 and moored until 2016 but the sails were never used. The owner's used the boat sparingly, only by motor. In 2016, while building a home, the owner's moved it to their property where it has been kept undercover and inspected on a regular basis until its recent launch and readiness for sale. The creation of this boat has been an ongoing labor-of-love since 1976 and is now for sale as it reaches the culmination of countless hours of careful labor and attention-to-detail.Contact Gretchen Miles at Waterline Boats (425-231-0344 or [email protected]) for additional information about this boat or to arrange a viewing.
