Description

STAR CHALLENGER is a sailing vessel “Ketch” with a long keel. 

The perfect example of a classic yacht, with all the commodities for cruising and life onboard.

Accommodation : 7 Berths. 

Hull 

The vessel has a hull of GRP, with encapsulate keel. Bulkheads and semi bulkheads are  of GPR construction. The hull’s GRP construction utilizes a lay-up of polyester resin.

The keel is GRP long fin type with encapsulated ballast to the hull. The keel is in good condition.

Bilge  

Access to the bilge is made by lifting floor boards.

Engine 

The vessel is fitted with an inboard Perkins 72 H P diesel engine. The propeller is three  bladed and is in good order.

Spray hood, Dodgers and other Canvas Work. 

The cockpit has a fully enclosable canvas tent supported by targa and steel tubing which can fold away; It is in good condition. 

Cockpit 

The vessel benefits from a deep, safe center cockpit for six adults. There is 2 manual  bilge pumps . Two large cockpit drains are fitted.  

Deck Fittings 

The following are fitted: 

Bow cleat on either side. 

Mid- cleat on either side. 

Cockpit winches all two speed Lewmar. 

Electrical Installation 

The main electrical system is 12 V. With a control panel; Consisting of 24V circuit  breakers for various functions and an AC section of 4 circuit breakers, polarity light  and RCD. 

There are 2 x 110 Amp. Batteries in a ventilated waterproof storage under the aft berth  and 1 starter battery with emergency connecting switch and fitted fuses. There is a Victron 40 Amp. smart battery charger  in the engine room. 

Mast, Boom and Spars 

A white painted Sailspar masts. A white painted Sailspar boom and vang with kicking strap

The mast is stepped to a stainless steel deck plate and supported internally by a steel post to the keel.

Chain plates 

– A substantial stem head forestay fitting bolted through to the original welded  fitting in anchor locker.  

– Inner forestay eye bolted through deck to chain plate in anchor locker – 2 Lower shrouds forward of the mast, 1 port, 1 starboard, through deck to chain plates  on forward saloon bulkhead.  

2 lower shrouds aft of mast, 1 port 1 starboard, through deck to substantial fitting mid  ships 

-4 shrouds, 2 port 2 starboard trough deck to same substantial fitting mid ships. -1 Backstay fitted to transom, and through transom to chain plates port and starboard. All chain plates are well attached to the hull.

Standing Rigging 

New set of standing rigging in 10 mm and 8 mm 1 x 19 in June 2012.  Shrouds and backstay have swagded ends and bottlescrews with correctly placed  splitpins.

Fuel Installation 

The stainless steel diesel tank is below the cockpit.

Hatches 

There are 3 main hatches with an internal external locking devise. “ in Aluminium and  one inox. 

All hatches were found to be in good order. 

Interior 

The saloon has two settee berths, a galley and chart table opposite on the portside. There is a double berth in the aft cabin with its own head. 

The interior is in good condition. 

Heads 

The vessel is fitted with two Jabsco toilets and a holding tank is under the floorboards. 

Windows 

3 windows are fitted to each side of the coach roof. They are Lemar in alumninium  frames. The windows were in good order.
