Fantastically fast Dixon 65 sailing yacht which has a great interior for entertaining below - in high gloss mahogany and with lovely mahogany floors. She has been substantially updated and improved in this ownership including new paint and a review of all her systems. This was to prepare her for a serious world cruise to be undertaken mainly 2 handed. Sadly bad health has intervened and they will now not take her so she is being offered for sale. Immaculate good looks, epic sailing and comfortable accommodation. She is ready to sail.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorized A – “Ocean”

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Structural engineering by High Modulus Inc. (highly respected for its involvement with the America's Cup racing yachts) created the fast hull form which is constructed of foam with a single skin using E-glass/aramid hybrid fibre for durability with carbon fibre reinforcements in areas of the deck, cabin structure and moulded chain-plates.
  • Carbon vacuum infused cored hull construction using E-Glass.
  • Carbon superstructure and deck construction.
  • Cored composite deck construction.
  • Bonded teak laid decks to ring deck and to the cockpit area.
  • Stainless steel and teak external trim.
  • Use of Nomex core on interior joinery.
  • New antifouling (2022).
  • All teak deck joints recaulked.
  • Hull and superstructure repainted snow white in Awlcraft (2017).

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Bizalloy 80 fin keel and Lead cast ballast bulb providing reduced draft and wetted surface area while maintaining stability.
  • 1 x fully balanced, foam-filled, carbon rudder supported by custom made rudder bearings.
  • Emergency jury steering tiller.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Yanmar 190hp Turbo 4LHA-DTP.
  • Hurth gearbox.
  • Air intake tube extended for the engine room air intake.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine RPM and hours counter broke in Nov 2020 @ 4604 hours.
  • New counter @ 10 hours (Jan 2022).
  • Every second year the engine received a 500 h service. In the other year the engine received a 1000 h service, regardless of run time hours, and a 2000 h service in 2018.
  • Cruising speed – approx 7 knots @ 1750rpm.
  • Maximum speed – approx 9.5 knots @ 2400rpm.
  • Fuel consumption at cruising speed – approx 7 litres per hour.
  • Range @ cruising speed – approx 1000Nm.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • MaxProp self-feathering 3 blades propeller.
  • Bowthruster Max-Power Retract R200 with twin 2-blade aluminum propeller.
  • 2 x custom carbon steering wheels.

 

Other Mechanical Equipment:

  • Hydraulic power pack to drive the vang, outhaul, backstays
  • Air conditioning ducting and equipment fitted but not operational at this time.

Electrical Systems

  • The AC system can be fed either by generator, 16 amp shore power or inverter.
  • The DC system is powered by individual Mastervolt and Zenith battery banks (5) for Service, Navigation, Generator starting, Main engine starting and Bow Thrusters/Capstan.
  • DC-DC converter 24 to 12V for loading the navigation batterie installed.
  • Residual current circuit breaker incorporated in 220 V panel.
  • 24 V high amp plug for tender air pump.
  • ISO isolation transformer 220V/110V 8 kva.

 

Battery Banks:

  • Battery management system Mastervolt BTM III.
  • Main batteries - Mastervolt 750 amp 24V MVSV 12 cells.
  • Generator battery.
  • Engine battery.
  • Additional anchor capstain and bow thruster batteries.
  • Battery switch to isolate navigation battery from the main batteries.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • ISO-Transformer 8kVa 220V/110V resin encapsulated and overload protection with soft start.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Isotherm Basic 50 water boiler run from shore power and engine.
  • Accumulators and pressure water system.
  • Circulation pump 24V for the hot water.

 

Watermaker:

  • SeaFresh watermaker, osmosis type (approx. 120 litres/hour).

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • Primary 4 standalone bilge pumps (serviced Nov 2021) with automatic switches and independent high water alarm switches.
  • Emergency bilge / fire pumping by engine-driven clutch pump with 4 suctions. The respective areas can by pumped out by selecting the appropriate set of valves. The pump can also function as a fire pump.

 

Grey & Black Water:

  • Gray water tank for the galley sink.
  • Black water tank 200 lt with Mercator pump and connection for shore-based suction system.
  • Every toilette has a two-way tap (Blackwater tank or sea).

Tankage

Fuel:

  • 1,090 litres in 3 tanks.
  • Fuel transfer pump to shift the fuel between the tanks.
