Description

1979 Polaris 43Wayward Windfor sale exclusively with DBY Boat Sales. The Polaris 43 is a moderately heavy displacement design (11,000kg’s) of which 6 were built in the late 1970’s at the Chien Yu boatyard in Taiwan, but the design was taken from Robert Perry’s famous Valiant 40 design, of which more than 200 were built between 1973 and 1992.Launched in 1979 in Anchorage, AlaskaWayward Windwas subsequently cruised through the Pacific to Australia. Her 68hp Kubota shaft drive diesel is mounted beneath the galley sink offering excellent access for servicing. It was replaced in 2011 and now shows just 911 hours. The prop is a 3 blade feathering Maxprop. Her accommodation layout boasts a private owner's double cabin forward of the mast with a large single Pullman berth just aft of that to starboard. Opposite this is a large marine head with separate enclosed hot and cold shower. The main saloon features an L shaped dining area to Port with a roomy settee and two pilot berths opposite all done in leather. Aft of this is the chart table and seat opposite the large U-shaped galley to port with a Force 10 3 burner stove and oven, and a microwave. The interior has a beautiful solid teak fit out done to a very high standard including a teak and holly cabin sole with lock down floor boards, and a large teak saloon table with fiddles and drop-down sides. There is even a Taylors diesel cabin heater fitted, surely a good thing to have back in her days in Alaska.Under the cockpit is a large storage space under with easy access to steering, fuel filters, refrigeration, water heater, water pumps etc.Her rig is a deck stepped masthead twin headsail cutter configuration with lazy jacks on the main and a new boom cover, a genoa on a Harken furler, plus a staysail (and storm staysail) that hank on to an inner forestay. As well she carries a spare light furling headsail and a large drifter in a sock, as well as a spinnaker. Her spinnaker pole stows on a track on the front of the mast keeping the foredeck clear for safe working. Her standing rigging was last replaced in 2011.She was last antifouled in May 2022, and her engine was given a thorough service in May 2023.Outside, her cockpit is protected by a quality 2 year old Sunbrella fabric spray dodger with a cockpit awning & enclosing cockpit clears (which have never been used), and a complete set of cockpit cushions.A safe, strong reliable Robert Perry designed long distance cruising yachtWayward Windeagerly awaits her new owners and her chance to cover off some ocean miles again. For sale with DBY Boat Sales Pittwater Office in Newport.
