Description

Rising Staris the Historic Morris 28 Linda, Hull #1* Designed byone of America's preeminent naval architects, Chuck Paine.....In the early 1980s thesuccessful racing sailor from Westport, CT, Allan Stern, commissioned Tom Morris to build this very boat.  Stern wanted a small boat suitable for he and his wife to sail the Long Island Sound and places beyond.  As an avid racer, he wanted this little cruiser to have exceptional sailing capabilities.  The boat was named after Stern's wife, Linda, and he purchased not only this hull number 1, but also the tooling for production.Rising Star, hull #1, was introduced in 1985, and production spanned five years and totaled 16 hulls.Rising Star is a work of art.*She's fast, nimble and boasts outstanding fit and finish. * Built on a Heavily Constructed Solid Fiberglass Hull with Balsa Cored Decks * Keel Stepped Mast * Full Keel * As preventive maintenance, the portholes have all been re-beded. * The cabin features solid teak bulkheads, varnished pine slating and dark mahogany trim. * Auxiliary power is provided by the reliable and well-maintained 13/hp Westerbeke diesel inboard (Only 385 Original Hours) * She was featured inSailing Magazinein September of 1985 as well as Mate's book,The World's Best Sailboats.  Her hull shines in black Awlgrip and she's been lovingly preserved and well-maintained throughout the years.  Notably, Morris Yachts was acquired by the Hinckley Company in 2016.It should be noted that this elegant beauty is currently docked in her well-protected, fixed concrete slip in the highly regarded Windmill Harbour Yacht Basin on Hilton Head Island, SC.  Windmill Harbour is a gated community that is also home to the South Carolina Yacht Club.  The marina is a locked harbor, meaning that it is only accessible through a 20' X 80' lock.  This allows for a consistent water level, bath-tub-calm protection plus ground water makes its way into the basin, creating a brackish water environment.Simply Spectacular!....Craig Copas (843) 247-5301 mobileShow More
