Description

Come and get it!  A fresh $40k+ refit puts this Colvin designed schooner priced to Steal -- the work is done, so come confident of what you'll soon enjoy!  In ready-to-cruise condition and truly bargain priced for an immediate sale!  That’s a rare and winning combination worthy of anyone’s full consideration!

In March, 2020, the sailboat left Rio Dulce and is currently in Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras -- do your inspections there, or it appears likely the boat will return to the Rio before hurricane season 2021.  Write or call now for all the great details of this boat and start making your plans!

Naval Architect Thomas E. Colvin has drafted, built, and sold plans for many successful designs of cruising boats and other craft, plans often sold to dreamers of faraway places to be constructed “at home” of welded aluminum or steel plate. The success of Colvin’s designs are seen with countless examples found in use and loved by happy owners all over the world!

But this particular schooner is far better than many, and here are some of the reasons why:

--This design, Doxy, has about 40% more interior volume than the cramped but better-known Gazelle design.

--The lead filled keel is one foot deeper than the original design, approved by Colvin, greatly improving stability and upwind sailing performance.

--After construction the entire boat was sandblasted inside and out, and then the deck and house were hot zinc flame-sprayed (galvanized) including inside and outside of gunnels, followed by five coats of Devoe Bar-Rust 235 epoxy paint sprayed on and topcoated with alkyd enamel. Bilge areas have ten coats of that epoxy paint!

Finished/NEW in 2019-2020:

--Garmin GPSmap 1020 and nmea 2000 communications network

--AIS class B transceiver with a dedicated AIS antenna (not sharing VHF antenna)

--Furuno wireless radar - for use with iPad/tablet/phone navigation screen

--Air 40 Marine Wind Generator - the latest version of the most popular turbine

--Simrad/Navico autopilot with satellite compass - heavy duty - linked to nmea 2000 network

--Yaesu HF Radio -- FT891 -- 100 watt, and SG230 auto-tuner w/backstay antenna

--Electric anchor windlass, plus commercial-style above-deck chain drum

--New bimini - Sunbrella

--All lights converted to LED

Huge refit Finished/NEW in early 2018:

--All new installation of Mitsubishi S4S 82hp diesel, PRM hydraulic transmission, flexible coupling, 1.5" propshaft, bearings, PSS mechanical shaft seal, line-cutter, propeller, 3" exhaust with Vetus components, Perko high-capacity water strainer.

--Two new aluminum fuel tanks, 32 & 39 gallons, with gauge senders, made in USA.  Existing steel tanks were drained, cleaned, inspected = perfect condition = total fuel capacity is 141 gallons.

--All standing rigging replaced with 3/8" galvanized cable, made in USA.  New 5/8" Crosby rigging screws are aboard as spares.

--330' 3/8" high-test anchor chain, made in USA, 300' 3/4" rode, galvanized swivels & shackles (Crosby).

--Hull bottom antifouling was removed, sanded, three coats of coal-tar epoxy applied, and three coats of antifouling paint applied.

***This is part of an incredible list of work and equipment during the extensive refit 2017-2018 -- described further in Full Specifications!
