Description

The best thing about owning a classic yacht is the stunning sight of the tall masts, intricate rig and shiny paintwork as you first approach her. The amazing history and character is something you can only get from buying a classic.

Yachts of this calibre draw people in as they admire her and marvel at the craftmanship. As soon as you step on board you will fall in love with this exquisite piece of history. Owning a boat of this pedigree is an opportunity to mark your name on the history of a boat that will outlast any of its owners.

Arcturus was built in 1930 in Maine, USA and found her way to New Zealand where she underwent  a 2 year rebuild using Kauri timber, producing a better than original structure. Outstandingly finished, she will endure years to come. She is now established in New Zealand as a charter business, in Survey for up to 15 passengers inshore.

The timberwork is in pristine condition, having been lovingly maintained by the captain of the past 20 years. The deck and helm station have a beautiful timber curved cap rail which keeps you out of the elements, and provide a comfortable vantage point for admiring the view under sail. She’s a really safe boat for any young family members with bulwarks raising above the deck and the stanchions adding extra safety.

As you walk across the teak decks you can feel the essence of this vessel and the many sailors who have been aboard before you.

She has an impressive sail plan with a huge sail wardrobe. You’ll be surprised at how simple this boat is to sail. She’s light on the wheel, and can be sailed under just main and jib, or with full sail up can reach impressive speeds.

Arcturus is truly a work of art, now looking for a new owner who will continue to look after her with the attention to detail and pride she deserves.
