Description

Beautiful 53 feet gaff-rigged ketch, live-aboard boat for sale.
This ship is a 'Blue Water Cruiser', and as such she boasts a large, comfortable space with plenty of character and history whilst being very well equipped for modern day adventures at sea.  
This boat is a rare historic Admiralty ship.
Originally constructed from Burmese Teak on oak she is a very strong, well built vessel and was originally converted into a ketch in the 1970s.  She has a Gaff main sail, a gaff rigged mizzen and 2 head sails. Description

Her original design was for stability at sea, and in recent years she has travelled all across Europe and as such she is well equipped for many conditions.
Installed with air conditioning as well as central heating and a log-burner for colder climates.  She is complete with solar panels, HRO reverse osmosis water-maker, 3.5KW generator, inverter, hot water system, navigation equipment (chart plotter gps, JRC radar, depth sounder, compass, VHF radio).

  • The vessel was built by the Admiralty in 1944 as hull number HSL 315, this is also carved in to the inside of the transom

  • Burmese teak wrappers and palings on oak timbers.
  • The hull is double diagonally planked Burmese teak and laid on oak timbers fastened by copper boat nails clenched on roves.
  • The deck is of plywood sheathed in fibreglass and the superstructure is of teak.

Navigation

  • The Boat is perfectly designed for long-distance sailing as it's original design

    For those longer cruises, all modern and necessary navigational tools are
    installed.

  • Besides the interior wheelhouse there is a steering wheel on the back deck for truly capturing the essence of being on the ocean.

Hull

  • "Michaela" has recently been surveyed and taken out of the water
    for maintenance and an upgrade. The survey showed the hull to be
    in good condition with no rot and since then the hull has been
    coated in epoxy, fibreglass and finished in an epoxy blue marine paint, given new anodes and prop cleaning.
