Description

The 48 Open is an express yacht built off the very successful 48 Convertible. A mid-sized express yacht with unique designs of a powerful entry, raked stem, and the same strong and beamy hull as the 48 convertibles, HMY has been impressed with its performance as it cruises in the low 30 knot range, and tops out in mid-30 knot range. Upon walking onboard, the 124 square foot cockpit, one will find ample seating with the twin mezzanine seating areas just aft of the command deck. The cockpit will also be an angler’s dream with cooler storage below the mezzanine seats that can be converted to optional freezer space, in deck-fish boxes, drink coolers, a transom LiveWell and door with lift gate, and a single hatch for the optional Seakeeper. Having the 48 Open’s express platform with an aft open bulkhead, this gives all on board easy access to the cockpit when the fishing action starts. At the command deck, the centerline helm supported by a raised platform and a one-piece wrap around windshield gives the captain excellent visibility. With optional electronics packages from Viking’s subsidiary company AME, and electronics controls and storage in a large radio box to starboard, the 48 Open will be ready to hit the tournament trail or cruising grounds. The command deck is also a wonderful gathering place for guests to enjoy, including a u-shaped lounge with Ultraleather cushions to port with a walnut table in the center and storage underneath, and abundant refrigeration and tackle storage throughout. At the center of the mezzanine is the engine room access. The 48 Open can be powered with the standard MAN 1000 V8 CRM engines at 1000MHP a piece, or the optional MAN 1200 V8 CRM engines at 1200 MHP a piece.

Down below, guests will enjoy the luxury accommodations offered in the 48 Open, with a two stateroom one head layout in a walnut interior with horizontal grain orientation. To midship and port is the well-appointed galley, to starboard is a large u-shaped sofa. The guest stateroom is to starboard, and the master is forward. The master has lush accommodations with a queen-sized bed with storage underneath, and en-suite access to the private head. The 48 Open can do it all!

Manufacture Description

The 48 Open with its sleek sheer line, raked stem and razor-sharp entry melds perfectly with the one-piece wrap-around fiberglass windshield to produce the epitome of an athletic and racy express cruiser. Outfitted with a fiberglass hardtop and a custom tuna tower and outriggers from our subsidiary Palm Beach Towers the result is a masterful tournament contender bound for the Winner’s Circle each time the lines go in the water.

Completely unique and exciting profiles are offered with two other versions of the Viking 48 featuring a three-sided fiberglass, air-conditioned deckhouse. Spacious and airy, the command deck has three pedestal seats, L-shape port and starboard molded fiberglass consoles with stowage and available refrigeration. Each console is complemented with a pedestal mounted table and generous seating. The centerline helm delivers excellent sightlines, power-assisted hydraulic steering, single lever electronic controls and sophisticated communication, entertainment and navigation electronic systems from Atlantic Marine Electronics to deliver each boat turnkey ready.

The lush interior abounds with hand-finished teak joinery and spacious appointments throughout the salon including a flat screen television with surround sound. An L-shape lounge and dinette anchor the area for relaxing, dining and entertaining. To port, the galley is accented with Cambria treatments, under counter refrigeration, a microwave/convection oven and plenty of stowage. Inviting accommodations in two staterooms include a queen-size bed forward with private access to the head. A starboard stateroom has upper and lower berths.

Powered with MAN diesels the 48 will cruise at 30 knots with a top end in the mid 30 knot range depending upon engine selection, load, sea and other environmental factors. The raked entry and forward chine are designed to pierce through head seas and divert spray downward. Convex hull sections add curvature and form to the running surface, while molded running strakes accentuate lateral tracking and maneuverability.

Whether moving up or moving down throughout the Viking fleet, you will find these new Viking 48 models true blue-water champions in spirit, performance, accommodations and evolutionary prowess in the herald Viking tradition. We invite you to contact HMY Yacht Sales, your Viking dealer to learn more about these exciting new models!
