Description

This is an absolute corker of an Aquastar Ocean Star 38. Still in the diligent ownership of her original commissioners, with 2018 Yanmar 315s, bow-thruster, generator, and a rare forward double, she is presented beautifully, fully equipped, and totally ready to go. Her hull has been repainted, she has the upgraded stainless window package, and is simply a lovely boat to spend time on board.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised B – “Offshore” for 8 POB.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
  • Hull in GRP construction, finished in Carinthia Blue Awlgrip Awlcraft 2000 paint (Berthon –April 2016).
  • 1 x Mist coat and 2 x full coats of Awlcraft applied over 2 x flatted coats of Awlgrip 525 epoxy primer.
  • Ivory gelcoat to superstructure (superstructure last professionally polished September 2022).
  • Round-bilged hull form, incorporating a chine, with a full keel offering excellent stern-gear protection, with nylon keel plate.
  • Aft bathing platform, steps and aft cockpit deck finished in simulated teak-effect decking to a high standard.
  • External trim in stainless steel, with upgrade polished stainless steel window frames.
  • Sliding side door from wheelhouse to starboard deck, aft companionway from upper helm via locking double stainless steel doors and hinged, smoke-glazed hatch and doors.
  • Interior cabinetry in Satin-varnished teak cabinetry and joinery, teak and holly flooring to galley and dinette, with blue deep-pile carpet to other areas, Light Blue cloth upholstery & privacy curtains.
  • Last hauled, seacocks checked, anodes replaced and antifouled June 2023.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Twin Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 inline 6-cylinder diesel engines developing 315hp @ 3800 RPM, with 4.164L displacement.
  • Turbo-charged and inter-cooled.
  • Shaft drives via mechanical ZF68A reduction gearboxes with 2:54 ratio.
  • Engine bay re-painted and new engines fitted by Yanmar main agent in September 2018.

 

Maintenance & Performance:
  • Port: 138 hrs @ January 2024.
  • Starboard: 139 hrs @ January 2024.
  • Regular servicing with full Yanmar Agent service history.
  • New elbows to starboard block 2023.
  • Cruising speed - 18 knots (approx.).
  • Maximum Speed - 26 knots (approx.).
  • New hour meters fitted March 2020.

 

Propulsion & Steering:
  • Kobelt mechanical single-lever engine controls for throttle and gears.
  • Hydraulic steering.
  • SidePower electric bow thruster.
  • Conventional shaft drive to 4-bladed bronze propellers.
  • Electro-hydraulic trim tabs with controls to both helms.

Voltage Systems:

  • 12V DC electrical system for domestic & main engines start.
  • 230V AC domestic ring main.

 

Battery Banks:
  • 2 x Main engine cranking battery.
  • 1 x Generator starting battery.

  • Hot water supply via 240V immersion with accumulator and engine calorifier.
  • Fresh water shower on aft deck (plumbed for, but unconnected).

 

Bilge Pumps:
  • 2 x High capacity automatic electric bilge pumps.
  • Single high capacity manual bilge pump.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • 1,818 litre / 400 gallon total capacity in 2 aluminium tanks.
  • VDO analogue fuel gauges for both tanks at lower helm.
  • Fuel transfer via Jabsco electric self-priming diesel refuelling pump.
  • Stainless steel deck fillers on port & starboard side decks.

 

Fresh Water:
  • One 454 litre/ 100 Gallon GRP fresh water tank.
