A BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC WOODEN SPEEDBOAT/RUNABOUT
Scallywag is a beautifully restored and cared for CLASSIC, Chris Craft Barracuda fitted with a 1971 Evinrude Ski Twin outboard and trailer. Early viewing is strongly recommended.
Scallywag is a Turn-key 14ft 1958 Chris Craft Barracuda classic speedboat / Runabout.
Restoration work carried out by a professional some years ago. She’s been garage stored and taken to various shows including exhibited at the London boat show.
Scallywag was imported around 1962 from Kentucky, USA.
Displayed at the British Classic Motorboat Rally in 1998. Later used on the Thames.
This classic boat was the subject of a full restoration in 2012, including the following works carried out:
Strengthening on a bulkhead and cross members, with a new floor, transom and transom well. -
All paint removed and refinished with sides painted and deck varnished with multiple coats of Epifanes, to a high standard. -
New upholstery in the Chris Craft colour scheme.
All deck fittings re-chromed or replaced with original Attwood stock- Steering wheel and dash restored.
The trailer is approx. 3yrs old.
Custom boat cover-
Period style 1971 Evinrude Ski Twin 40hp electric start, short shaft motor and remote controller fitted.
The motor is a low hour, freshwater engine, about 43 cu.in and 40hp at the powerhead. These are easy to service, and spares are readily available here in the UK. These motors can use synthetic and completely biodegradable TCW-3 oils at 50:1 ratio.
Used sparingly. Renewed varnish and motor resprayed in 2017.
This is a special, pretty and useful classic wood boat. It is easily towable by a small family car and can be stored in a conventional UK-sized garage. Very, very rare to find on this side of the Atlantic.
