Description

Bowman 45 loaded with bluewater cruising features galore and with a complete refit in 2022. Exclusively For Sale with DBY Boat Sales, this classic 1978 heavy displacement yacht is in outstanding condition and ready to go anywhere.

This unique and beautifully designed Bowman 45 is a hand-crafted yacht built and equipped for long distance blue water cruising. She has proven herself with two circumnavigations, six Atlantic crossings and a competitive track record for ocean racing in her day. Designed by the legendary Holman and Pye and built by Bowman Yachts (Emsworth, UK) in 1977, launched 78, she is a renowned, heavy displacement yacht that will take you anywhere. Traditional GRP hull and deck construction with foam insulation, fin keel (4.5 tons ballast), skeg hung rudder and a beautiful new synthetic teak deck laid in 2019.

Moonshiner underwent an extensive refit in 2022/23 at a cost of over £150000 ($290000) for a short-handed cruise from the UK to Sydney. Highlights of her upgrade include new standing and running rigging, new engine, new mainsail, complete re-wire with renewables, 2 new chart plotters, autohelm, radar, all new hatches and upholstery. Hull below the waterline was completely cleaned and freshly antifouled along with new anodes in October 2023.

A recent 2022 survey and detailed inventory are available upon request.
