Nordhavn 56 “Ata Marie” is hull #8 of the well-received Motorsailer series. This model offers three staterooms with larger interior & galley. A 1,200 square foot powerful sailing rig sails her at hull speed on fresh breeze while motor sailing produces hull speed at 1.5(GPH) with light breeze & pure motoring produces hull speed at 3 (GPH). The stability of the rig underway provides for a comfortable underway experience on this proper sailing ship.

Accommodations & Layout

Boarding from aft, she has a welcoming integrated swim platform that doubles as a dingy dock. The teak capped aft cockpit is accessed through a transom door, showcasing the BBQ/sink/reefer storage console over a teak deck. From the cockpit forward, the salon is entered through a stout “Dutch” door revealing a stunning cherry interior space cushioned in ultra-leather. The U-shaped settee to starboard includes a stunning varnished table. On the port side is a straight settee with storage below housing the upgraded Bose entertainment A/V equipment. Behind the port settee is a Sony L.E.D. TV mounted on an electric lift. The seating provides excellent viewing on both sides, forward & aft.

Sharing the forward area of the salon is the pilothouse with a single helm chair with large chart table to starboard.   The dash & overhead are smartly equipped with propulsion, navigation & communications controls. Port & starboard “Dutch” doors provide access to the foredeck. The large forward deck provides access either side of the mast to the bow which reveals a large Lewmar hatch accessing the ample sail & chain lockers. Aft of the mast is a large deck area & (3) Lewmar hatches providing fresh air below to the galley & salon. Accessing below decks from the pilothouse forward one descends (3) steps down to the salon area with office hutch, modern electrical services panel port & upgraded galley to starboard. Forward of the galley & salon to starboard is the VIP stateroom with queen size bunk outboard & private head & shower. To port is the over/under bunk stateroom with private head & shower.          

There is excellent access to the well-designed engine room under (3) large opening hatches in the galley/salon sole. Aft & below (2) steps is the master stateroom with centerline queen bed with private head & shower. All stateroom heads feature heated tile floors. The large machinery space lazarette (below the aft cockpit) is accessed through a large deck hatch or aft the through master stateroom shower door.
