The vessel is a 1973 Matthews 56 Voyager Offshore. The vessel is considered a flush deck cruiser and feathers a white gelcoat exterior with teak decks and wood trimmed fixtures. Per an article written in the Matthews Log, "With this vessel you can now satisfy your hankering for a rakish lively sport-fisherman and your better half's desire for a
luxury cruiser in one beautiful package called the Matthews Voyager. Her agile performance, fly bridge with complete controls and large aft exterior cockpit promise endless deep sea fishing fun and her luxurious accommodations for six make the extended cruise a salty delight. On the inside of the vessel, it offers a large master state room aft with twin beds, roomy dressing area, private head with shore and storage space galore. The state room forward with two full berths also has a private head with shower. An entertainment center with full stereo AM-FM radio and cartridge tape unit is but one of many luxury features in the plush main salon. An all-electric galley of course and full air conditioning with reverse cycle heating. Cruising range is 500 miles at 18 to 19
knots. The vessel is also available with a full array of electronic and navigational gear."
