Summer is quickly approaching, and here is a powerboat in VERY good condition for its age available to a new owner/enthusiast for a very nice price! This is a 1998 model Powerquest 340 VYPER, which is a high quality high speed boat with an unusually spacious interior. The hull is slim, sleek and has an advanced bottom design with double ventilated side steps, "notched transom" balance step blow the transom and a V-shaped "pad" at the bottom of the hull much like the hulls from Fountain, Donzi and Nor-Tech. Also special about this boat is the current engine package, which is two big block engines from Mercury Racing. Both which in recent years have undergone extensive modification and renovation. The engines have increased displacement to approx. 550 cubic inches (9.0 litres), and is fitted with fuel injection from Motec, which is "top of the line" in programmable injection systems. MSD ignition is included, and this is professionally installed in the boat in a waterproof box. Both engines have been run on a dynamometer and calibrated here in Norway by specialists and tuned for the use of 95-octane European petrol for a correct amount of petrol, ignition advance etc. This ensures a perfectly calibrated engine that starts perfectly and uses "little" petrol compared to several "tunes" which can be obtained from America with a different type of fuel. The dashboard is also worth mentioning as it has a digital Motec screen with "analog" display that is easy to read at high speed. Error messages also appear here, etc. Double Gaffrig control levers and tiltable hydraulic steering pump make it possible to get ready for driving in all conditions and throttling like in a real racing boat. The two bolster seats are high and rigid with an electric "drop down" seat cushion and stainless steel frames. The dashboard is large with great visibility and has several built-in features such as glove compartment and illuminated cup holders etc.
The Powerquest 340 Vyper twin step bottom is all about speed. The helm is ergonomically designed to put all controls at your fingertips and all instruments in clear view. The Powerquest offshore bolster seat's bottom mechanically drops down a full 90 degrees. The Vyper's spacious cabin with 5-feet, 5-inches of headroom provides luxurious, leatherette lounge seating, a fully-enclosed fiberglass head, and an expansive galley. There is a 6-foot, 6-inch V-berth, plush 40-ounce carpet, padded and pleated hull liner and suspended vinyl headliner. The elegant recessed lighting in the cabin valences is only found on Powerquest. A pair of MerCruiser supercharged HP525SC's fulfill the need for speed. Powerquest's obsessive engine riggers are responsible the intricate detail under the engine hatch.
Top speed of boat: 69mph
