Description

The Lyman Morse 42 is a Ray Hunt designed custom powerboat which is fast and capable, but also comfortable and elegantly laid out with a red birch interior, and teak and holly soles. The galley is down with a large V-berth in the forward cabin. There are two helm stations with a simple flybridge that has a bench seat meant for four people. She is quiet, easy to handle, and has a top speed of 27 knots with twin Caterpillar 3126s @ 420 hp.

Interior

The main cabin is spacious, comfortable and well laid out. The large, insulated windows provide plenty of natural light and visibility, while the shades and curtains can be easily drawn for more privacy.  The floors are teak and holly with fitted carpets. There is a L-settee and large table to port, which can convert to a double berth, and the option for two comfortable, upholstered chairs to starboard. In place of the chairs the owners enjoy having their large weaving loom in the main cabin, but the matching upholstered chairs are included. Moving forward, to starboard, is the helm station with a large, comfortable leather Stidd helm seat.  Forward of the salon and downstairs is a spacious galley with Corian counters, lovely wood cabinets and teak and holly floors.  There is a stainless two basin sink and 4 burner stove and oven, as well as a microwave and refrigerator.  Across from the galley to starboard is the head with composing toilet, stainless sink, ample storage and counter space, natural light and a good size shower stall.  The forward cabin enjoys a large, comfortable v-berth, hanging lockers and drawers, plus a port and starboard cushioned seat. Overall, the accommodations of this Lyman Morse 42 are very comfortable and stylish and the wood work and upholstery is all in very good condition.

Exterior

The aft cockpit is a good size with teak decks, ample storage and large cushioned bench seating on either side.  The decks are non-skid and the stainless handrails are secure allowing for safe and easy access to the fore deck where there are three, new in 2022 sky light hatches, two stainless dorade vents, two large solar panels and an electric anchor windlass. The 5 main cabin windows are new Thermapane insulated glass.

Climbing up to the flybridge from the cockpit is also safe and easy with stainless handrails and sturdy teak steps. The sleek and simple flybridge enjoys great visibility and an attractive bimini sun shade. Controls and instruments are well laid out and the cushioned bench seats are comfortable, providing ample storage beneath. There is also dumb waiter from galley to flybridge, which is a terrific, custom feature of this wonderful boat.
