"HONU II"is one of two 40' Grenfell Yachts built in Vancouver in 1968, that has been boathouse kept and professionally maintained by Abernethy & Gaudin in Brentwood Bay. The mechanical maintenance has been done by Ben Gartside of Gartside Marine Services in Sidney. She is equipped with an Electro-Guard Bonding System, and had major upgrades to the 110 Volt wiring.
She is absolutely gorgeous, unique and is in sound condition. A full "Dave Richardson" refit was undertaken in 1999, in which $100,000 was spent by the previous owner. The refit included refastening, new house and decks, interior and more! Many upgrades have been completed under the care of her present owner.
This Classic vessel is in Bristol "show boat" condition and must be seen to be fully appreciated.
Her 45' boat house features easy entry, curtain, enviro-floatation, 30 amp power both to port and starboard and a low voltage "electric otter fence", is available to purchase upon the sale of the vessel.
The forward cabin has a single upper berth, a larger lower berth with drawers beneath the berth. There is storage shelves and hanging locker in the forward cabin. Adjacent is the forward head with vanity, stainless steel basin and a electric head.

There are two TVs - the second one is a flat screen Toshiba (ac) with built in DVD
The aft cabin has 2 - 3/4 berths with drawers under, a built in 8 drawer bureau and a large hanging locker and has an ensuite with vanity storage cabinet, porcelain shell sink, electric head and separate shower stall with water miser shower head. All mattresses and duvets were custom made for the boat and are VERY comfortable
The galley is located on the pilothouse deck with double doors opening on to a covered aft teak deck. It is equipped with a stainless steel sink, Force 10 CNG stove (with 3 storage tanks), microwave oven and a NovaKool 110V AC / 12V DC refrigerator.
There are 200 gallons of fresh water storage in 2 - 100 gallon tanks
Heads: Both are have with Y valves with a 25 gallon holding tank with 12V Macerator and Tank gauge.
Interior has Espar diesel forced air heating.
The hull is lapstrake mahogany planking, sawn mahogany and bent oak frames, smooth mahogany planking over marine plywood bottom and teak swim grid with transom gate. Hull sides were stripped to clean wood and replugged, 6 coats of 2 part high build primer was applied with 3 coats of 2 part finish over top.
The cabin sides were permanently sealed against moisture and movement with 3 coats of West System Epoxy with 6 coats of 2 part clear coat applied for high UV protection. The cabin tops have were replaced with marine plywood sheathing with fiberglass over and 2 coats of 2 part finish coat in 1999.
The decks are glued teak....no screws to leak.
