The Blue Star 29.9’s look and price would make a Yankee lobsterman proud saidCapt. Stuart Reininger when he reviewed one for Power & MotorYacht in February 2000. She handles well in a sea. Her generous beam and skeg-protected, deep-V bottom contribute to her stability. Wooden touches throughout, such as the solid teak companionway steps and solid (not veneer) cabinetry are of matched, close-grained wood. The helm area layout is straightforward, with a captain’s seat, port side L-shaped seating and large analog instrumentation. There is a large cockpit with easy side deck access and aft facing seating. Below decks has a nice dinette/berth, compact galley, forward V-berth with filler and a vacu-flush head. She has trim tabs, good electronics and a nicely crafted teak swim platform. She is a comfortable day-tripper that can easily accommodate six, an overnighter for four, and a weekender for two. She is powered by T-250 HP Yanmars with 760 hours.
