Description

Moken is a Diesel Duck 462,  built to high yacht standards by Sea Horse Marine in Zhuhai, China. Diesel Ducks have won several People’s Choice awards at TrawlerFest events over the years. They are a powerful, unique breed of trawler with their steel-hull, sturdy appearance, and as a bonus – they are designed as a sail-assisted Passagemaker. She has a full displacement steel passage maker with a fuel efficient John Deere diesel engine and a sail assist/get home balanced rig with roller furling jib and roller furling main with boomless main sail trimmed with a traveler bar control and four Harken winches. Designed with long range ocean crossing capabilities, the Seahorse Diesel Duck 462s are easy to handle and are very comfortable to live-aboard.Extremely spacious and comfortable live aboard interior, with Pilot house, a luxurious Owners aft stateroom, comfortable guest state room, both with their own heads, and inboard air conditioning.

MOKEN was custom built without compromise, under the supervision of a professional marine surveyor. This is not your average Duck. This fully optioned vessel features a robust electrical system with dual 110/220 VAC-50/60 Hz systems, oversized ground tackle, a large sail rig for both stabilization and propulsion, paravane stabilization, and a comprehensive electronics package. MOKEN’s beautiful teak interior is impressive, and attention to detail is evident throughout.

MOKEN has been carefully upgraded by her current owners who have spent the last eight years living on board and cruising in Southeast Asia. She has been modified extensively for extended periods of time at anchor, by increasing solar and wind charging capacity and lowering power consumption for all in-house systems. This reduces the need to run the main generator on the hook.

Moken is  built tough for bluewater cruising and exploring islands and coastlines the world over.

She is currently in dry dock at Rebak Marina, Langkawi, a stunning duty free island, and the perfect place for beginning your cruising adventures. Please contact Rachel today for a full Spec sheet and for video walk throughs. She is in vessel care and excellently  upkept.

CONSTRUCTION

MOKEN’s hull is constructed of high quality, shot peened ship steel, sand blasted inside and out. The vessel is constructed to China Classification Society (CCS) practice. This includes a CCS certified weld x-ray of the entire hull and internal structural steel, and a CCS incline test to check stability.

There is a watertight crash bulkhead in the bow, with a commercial ship quality, dogged down hatch. Four commercial, dogged down, aluminum seadoors on the interior bulkheads provide 5 watertight compartments.

To protect the hull, three coats of International Paints epoxy primer were applied to the interior and exterior, with four coats of epoxy primer on the bottom.

Below the waterline, the hull was finished with Chugoku bottom paint. Above, the decks are white Dupont Imron and the hull is forest green Alexseal. A light grey Kiwi Grip anti skid was also applied on deck. The hull and topsides are fully faired. In fact, the hull is so straight that it looks like a fiberglass boat. There is a stainless balanced rudder and an integral swim and boarding platform.

MOKEN is built for worldwide cruising in both hot and cold climates with sprayed expanding foam insulation throughout the entire boat. Sound insulation surrounds the engine room to reduce engine noise while underway.

Inside, selected A-grade fine grain teak veneer has been used throughout for a high quality finish.
