Dutch Barge 67ft Houseboat

67ft Dutch Barge liveaboard houseboat from around 1900, dry docked in 2022 with May 2022 survey, recently re-built cabin, ready to "move in" - to include a full residential mooring at Heybridge Basin.

CONSTRUCTION:

Built in around 1900, iron construction with wooden superstructure, part GRP sheathed, wheel steering.

NOTE - Remedial welding and re-plating carried out 2022 with May 2022 survey report.

BUILDER

Build in Holland by traditional methods.

ENGINE:

Daff 6 cylinder diesel engine, last used in 2022 to move her from Maldon to Heybridge after survey.

ELECTRICS:

Alternator charging to 2 x engine start 12v batteries and 1 x 12v domestic battery. 240v shore power with RCD and Sterling battery charger. Some internal lighting LED. Shore power on metered basis.

DECK GEAR:

Cockpit side covers with windows and zips, hatch covers, wheel steering, dinghy with electric outboard motor (requires battery), anchor with original windlass.

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:

Large brass cockpit, smaller clock and barometer.

SAFETY GEAR:

Ring lifebuoy, 4 fire extinguishers, fire blanket, carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, 4 electric bilge pumps (all installed in 2022 but not yet required as dry bilge!)

ENGINE ROOM / WHEELHOUSE

Space above engine for seating & eating.

SALOON

Comfortable 2 level saloon with bags of potential and rolled traditional ceiling. 2 paraffin lamps. Multi fuel burning stove with chimney. Sofa. Steps. Blinds for windows.

GALLEY

Front opening refrigerator with built in freezer compartment, Indicit 4 burner gas cooker with oven and grill, stainless steel sink with hot and cold water supply. Worktops and cupboards. Hot water is via Morco D-61B gas water heater. 2 full gas bottles stored on aft deck. Large built in water tank.

HEADS

Chemical cassette toilet with disposal point locally. Sink with hot and cold water and pull out shower head.

FORWARD CABINS

Large double cabin with double bed (new 2022 - to remain), door to forward smaller cabin with potential for single bed.

MOORING:

Becky is on a residential mooring at Heybridge Basin. This can be your permanent home through a standard vetting process, post can be delivered here and council tax needs to be paid, band A. There is a monthly mooring charge to be a resident at Heybridge Basin (currently £554.40) which you would be one of only five permanent residents.

The mooring includes 2 parking spaces and weekly refuse collection. There is a drinking water hose beside the mooring and built in water tank on board. Also metered electricity supply.

Use of the launderette is included, chargeable by electric cards available at the lock house, exclusively for the use of boat owners.

Becky also has a shed, including an attached log-store which is on waterways land and there is a small monthly charge for this (£33.43) which her owners have found invaluable for extra storage.

REMARKS:

Becky was purchased by her present owners in 2022, she was taken out of the water in May 2022 and any plating & welding necessary was carried out at the time, she was fully blacked and will be good until May 2027.

Becky does require some welding to be completed by May 2027 and this is why the the boat is advertised at such a reasonable price.

As Becky doesn't negotiate the canal system here because she is too large to do so, she therefore doesn't require a BSS certificate by the Blackwater and Chelmer waterways. If the new buyers wanted to move her, a BSS certificate would need to be acquired.
