Description

These evergreen semi-displacement aft cabin cruisers do it all so very well. Rugged yet comfortable, the Aquastar Ocean 118 offers 6 berths, with separate aft and forward cabins, two helms and a proper little ship feel. From 1999, FORTUNE'S STAR has sports reliable 260hp Volvo Penta diesels (serviced 2023), full nav. rig, heating, generator and is well set up for family cruising. Very rare to market.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised B – “OFFSHORE” for 8 persons on board.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull in GRP construction, finished in Navy Blue gelcoat, with ivory gelcoat to superstructure.
  • Round-bilged hull form, incorporating a chine, with a full keel offering excellent stern-gear protection, with nylon keel plate.
  • Decks finished in simulated teak-effect decking to a high standard.
  • Cockpit, cockpit steps, aft steps and platform finished in simulated teak-effect decking to a high standard.
  • External trim in stainless steel and teak-effect decking, with aluminum window frames.
  • Sliding side door from wheelhouse to starboard deck, aft companionway from upper helm via locking double doors and hinged, glazed hatch.
  • Interior: satin-varnished teak cabinetry and joinery, teak and holly flooring to galley and dinette, with blue carpet to other areas, blue patterned upholstery & privacy curtains.
  • Soft patch in wheelhouse roof by Berthon (engines removed for major overhaul/refurbish in 2018).
  • Last hauled, seacocks checked, anodes replaced and antifouled May 2022.

Machinery

Engines & Gearboxes:

  • 2 x Volvo Penta KAM D44P Kompressor 260hp@3700RPM, 3.6L diesels, 24 valves, six cylinder, turbocharged and supercharged.
  • EDC single lever gear/throttle levers.
  • 21” diameter x 23” pitched propellors in 4 bladed bronze.
  • Shafts in 1 ¾” stainless steel.
  • Bronze 18 ¼” x 11” rudders.
  • Rope cutters fitted.
  • Approx. consumption: 1 .2 mile per gallon.
  • Cruising range: c. 290 Nautical Miles (dependent on speed).
  • Halyard exhaust alarms.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Hydraulic steering to upper and lower helms.
  • Conventional shaft drive drive via Vetus shaft seal (serviced May 2022), cutless bearings (new May 2022) and P-brackets to four-bladed bronze propellors.
  • Both shafts drawn and straightness checked May 2022 prior to re-alignment and set-up.
  • Sidepower bow thruster (twin controls).
  • Electro-hydraulic Bennett trims tabs, with Bennett rocker controls to both consoles.
  • Hydraulic steering to upper and lower helms.

 

Maintenance:

  • Engine hours as at February 2023: Port – 1688 / Starboard – 1699.
  • Quoted top speed: max. 24 knots; cruising 17 knots.
  • Approx. consumption: 1 .2 mile per gallon.
  • Cruising range: c. 290 Nautical Miles (dependent on speed).
  • Annual engine servicing by Volvo Penta/approved agent - last serviced February 2023 by SAL Marine.
  • Both shafts drawn and straightness checked May 2022, with new cutless bearings, prior to re-alignment and set-up.
  • Turbochargers inspected and overhauled April 2021.
  • Engines removed in 2018 @ c.1490 hours by Volvo Penta main agent for 12 month warranted major overhaul/refurbish, clean and re-paint; with worn parts being replaced as required with new (including pistons, piston liners), turbocharger overhaul and rebuild. All invoices available upon request.
  • Electrical audit by Berthon during 2018 engine work removal, with custom soft patch added into wheelhouse roof to facilitate removal/refit of main engines.
  • Exhaust fittings improved and replaced by Berthon in 2016.

Alarms

  • Gas alarm system, intruder alarm.
  • Automatic engine, exhaust temperature and fire alarms.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 12V ships battery system.

 

Battery Banks:

  • 1 x main engine cranking battery.
  • 1 x generator starting battery.
  • 4 x domestic batteries.
  • Battery link switch

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Vetus 12V 60 Amp intelligent battery charger.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Fresh water system pressurized by electric Par Max Type 4 pump.
  • Hot water supply via 240V immersion with accumulator and engine calorifier.
  • Fresh water shower on aft deck.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • 2 x Rule 800 electric pumps with float switch.
  • 1 x Plastimo manual bilge pump.

Tankage

  • Specific tank space below lower saloon cabin sole with large access hatch for excellent, direct access.
  • 2021 - Tanks emptied, treated and flushed 2021, all fuel hoses replaced.

 

Fuel:

  • 1818 litre/400 Gallon total capacity in 2 aluminium tanks.
  • Tanks are always kept well pressed-up.

 

Fresh Water:

  • One 454 litre/ 100 Gallon GRP tank.
  • Analogue tank gauge at helm panel.
  • Stainless steel deck filler.

 

Holding Tanks:

  • All showers and sinks discharge directly overboard via 12V DC sump pumps.
  • Both heads can direct to black water tanks (switch over for pump out to sea or deck).
  • Two black water gravity-drop holding tanks (one located at each heads).
