Sonny is a unique classic sailing yacht, one-of-a-kind, making history with both generations of Germán Frers. Sonny is a winner with resounding titles on her record. Sonny is breathe, sail, enjoy, holiday and above all 'living the life'.
Here is her story: in 1935, Sonny was launched in Argentina. The yacht had been designed by Germán Frers Sr and built by his nephew (and father of Che Guevara) in Buenos Aires. Frers designed a double-ender with canoe stern for his client, a seasoned sailor. Not surprisingly, this yacht won her first major regatta 'Mar del Plata' in 1938. After the war, Sonny was used as an Argentine fishing boat until she came back into the path of Germán's son. He spent five years fully restoring her and restoring her to her glory according to his father's original plans and with some modern touches and techniques. In 2013, Sonny sailed away from the South American coast for the first time to sail the classic regattas on the Cote d'Azur and win her races again.
Let's get on board. Sailing this yacht is a fantastic experience. Her sharp lines cut through the water and don't give a hair's breadth to the waves. Sonny holds her course and, above all, attracts many watchful eyes. The spacious deck is the favourite spot for lovers of wind and water.
Frers respectfully restored this yacht with great attention to detail, such as the newly cast bronze fittings. Below decks breathes freedom and holiday: beautiful combination of the warm wood and sober white of the lacquered walls, ceilings and upholstered benches. The interior has simple details that give her a romantic touch such as the milled-out ventilation slots and the sober stove. The interior is bright and spacious. Guests sleep on the two beds below and on both sofas. The galley is built parallel with plenty of aisle space. The bathroom is split between a bathroom with toilet and sink and a separate shower. The toilet door pivots and can be used to include the space in the master cabin, thus offering complete privacy. In the master cabin, the bed is placed on the port side and you have a writing table and storage space to starboard.
Sonny's name and allure are still the same since 1935, her record has been deftly expanded with her rich history. Will you become captain on her next adventure?
