The Forban 5 was built in 1954/55, designed by the famous naval architect Eugène Cornù, from the construction site of Paul Jouet in Sartroville, on the Seine.The materials used in the construction are oak and elm for the keel, mahogany for the planking, elm for the frames and teak for the deck and superstructures.The rig is a cutter with mast and boom spruce, Yankee / furling jib and staysail self tacking boomed; lately it is also possible to arm a gennaker.In 2013 extraordinary maintenance intervention with partial remaking of the planking at the waterline, painting of the hull and the substantial overhaul of all the systems and on-board equipment.In 2014 maintenance work on the mast and apart from the rig with replacement of steering wheels and backstay.
