Let It Entertain You—Hatteras M90 Panacera

Space, flow and technology create a boating panacea aboard the M90 Panacera.

Outdoor entertaining space. The near-92-foot Hatteras M90 Panacera has it. Transom settee and table for six in the large cockpit? Check. Twin settees and a sunpad at the bow? Check. Open flybridge? Check. (Enclosing the flybridge is an option.) Balcony? Check.

Wait, what was that last one? The M90 has an unexpected bit of outdoor space. In a first for Hatteras, part of the port hullside folds down and creates a balcony that hangs over the water and makes the 22-and-a-half-foot beam feel wider. It’s directly off the salon and through a sliding glass door, so it adds openness and airflow to the already large and open salon, whose big, frameless windows yield great views from any position.

Forward on the main deck — ahead of a bulkhead that leaves room to either side for a companionway — is a galley and a wraparound dinette, both of which are bathed in light under a rather large skylight that creates an atrium of sorts.

Belowdecks, four staterooms can accommodate six guests and the owners, whose full-beam amidships retreat includes a kingsize berth, multiple hanging lockers, twin sinks in the head and much more. Crew quarters for four are all the way aft.

Flybridge seating is greater in the open version, but it’s abundant in both. The helm sits on the centerline in the enclosed version and slightly to starboard in the open. It includes three large displays, engine and thruster controls, a joystick for the twin diesels, and a noticeable lack of switches. That’s thanks to the proprietary HattCON ship management system, which integrates navigation, monitoring and other automated systems into a touchscreen interface that provides total control.

Power comes from Caterpillar or MTU. Twin CAT C-32A 1,600 hp engines are standard, but owners can opt for 1,800 or 1,900 hp powerplants from CAT or MTU. Top speed with the biggest CATs is 24.7 knots, with a 22-knot cruise, at which range is 428 nautical miles with the 3,285-gallon capacity.
