Posted: February 21, 2013"Eddie" is a rescued sea otter living at the Oregon Zoo. At 16 years old, he is a senior citizen as far as sea otters go; according to one of his keepers, Jenny DeGroot, sea otters typically live until they are 15 to 20 years old.
Along with his advanced age, Eddie is dealing with arthritis in his elbows. DeGroot and Eddie's keepers wanted to figure out a way to help Eddie exercise his elbows by working the joints. They turned to basketball.
