Wave of Chinese Buyers Could Lift Boat-Show Tide

NEWPORT BEACH – With months to go before the 40th annual Newport Boat Show gets under way, organizers and yacht brokers have received an early dose of good news from an unexpected source from across the Pacific.

Officials with Beijing-based luxury-lifestyle company Beijing Sunbelt Media recently met with Newport Boat Show producer Duncan McIntosh Co. to outline their plan to promote the show in its magazine and fly some of Beijing's wealthiest out for the April show.

"If they bring some people with some money to spend, that's great news for the show," company President Duncan McIntosh said.


Beijing Sunbelt Media, which specializes in luxury yacht, private jet, limousine and airport services, met with Vicki Higgins, senior vice president of marketing at Newport Beach's visitor's bureau in late 2012 to discuss the show and get acquainted with Orange County.
