Posted: November 6, 2013The Ruth Louise, an 80-foot plus wooden-hulled vessel, was still sitting at the bottom of the sound near a slip at West Bay Marina Tuesday after it sank unexpectedly the morning of Oct. 21.
Now, state agencies, including the state Department of Ecology and the state Department of Natural Resources, are working with the West Bay Marina's owner and management to try and come up with a solution on how to raise it and tow it from the water.
"We don't want to see that vessel lying on the bottom," said DNR spokeswoman Toni Droscher. DNR is the manager of state-owned aquatic lands that it leases to marina owners across the state, including the West Bay Marina.
