Why So Much?

I just “stole” a gorgeous 26-foot Bertram. The hull is magnificent, but the inline 6s are history, as are the drives. What do you think about upping to 4.3s or 5.0s? I’m looking at this as my winter project.
From a mechanic’s point of view, one of the neatest conversions I’ve seen was from the 6s to a pair of FWC 3.0s. Plenty of room to work and service (none of this “all the checkpoints are accessible” stuff), and unless you’re planning a Miami-to-Nassau speed run, 30-plus knots with five people aboard is excellent. You’ll spend all summer using up a tank of fuel.
